Johnny Depp is no longer lead of Pirates of the Carribean 6. Ayo Edebiri rumored to take over.

Johnny Depp‘s absence from the forthcoming “Pirates of the Caribbean” instalment marks a bold move for Disney, as the franchise’s iconic character, Jack Sparrow, takes a backseat in the studio’s latest adventure.

Despite being slated for a return in “Pirates 6,” the 60-year-old actor was dropped by the studio following allegations of domestic abuse by his ex-wife, Amber Heard, allegations Depp vehemently denies.

Fans, however, are optimistic about a potential return for Depp following his legal victory in the United States.

Presently, Disney is concurrently developing two “Pirates of the Caribbean” projects: the sixth instalment in the main series and a female-led spin-off starring Margot Robbie.

The latest buzz suggests Disney is contemplating a new lead for the franchise, with Ayo Edebiri of “The Bear” fame reportedly under consideration.

As per trusted insider Daniel Richtman, Edebiri may portray Anne Bonny, a real-life Irish-descended pirate.

Initially, Disney purportedly planned to introduce Redd from the Disneyland ride, but it appears the focus may shift to a Black female lead and a younger cast of pirates on the quest for hidden treasure.

While it remains unclear which “Pirates” movie will feature Anne Bonny as the lead, speculation persists regarding Depp’s potential reprisal of Jack Sparrow.
